Let Jack’s Tile and Carpet be your one-stop-shop for your complete bathroom remodel project. Several years ago, we had clients coming to us as a “start” to their dream bathroom remodel. When people think about remodeling a bathroom, a lot of times the initial thought is replacing the old/ugly bathroom tile. Therefore, our showroom was the first stop in the long process towards a complete bathroom remodel. In conversation, while selecting tile, clients would ask us if we knew plumbers, electricians, cabinet companies, granite companies, and shower glass enclosure companies. In answering, we figured out we in-fact had all of these connections and thus we found we could offer a turn-key solution to bathroom remodels. With some additional schooling and licensing complete, Jack’s Tile and Carpet is ready to serve all of your bathroom remodel needs.
At Jack’s Tile and Carpet, we streamline the process of making selections to be as simple as possible. We strive to be upfront with our pricing ensuring there are as few unforeseen and added costs as possible. The typical process starts with an in-depth meeting in your home. A qualified sales person will meet with you in your home to begin the discussion of your goals towards your dream bathroom. Providing there is space to “steal from” we can enlarge showers, make showers handicap accessible, install curb-less entries into showers, remove old Jacuzzi tubs and install more modern free-standing soaking tubs, move walls, update lighting, install frameless shower door/enclosures and update vanities, tops, and faucets. We will take pictures, measurements, and most importantly take detailed notes. Depending on the complexity of your project, within 2-4 business days, you will then receive a complete quote outlining, in detail, everything that was discussed in your home. In our contract we include price “allowances” for all major aspects of the project to include the vanity, vanity top, shower glass enclosure, lighting, electrical, plumbing, tile, painting, faucets, tubs, and labor to install all of these important features. We strive to be painstakingly detailed up front, prior to the start of the project, so that every expectation you have is in writing from us.
Once the contract outline is approved, the selection process begins. We give you the names of businesses and contacts with which to make appointments so all selections other than tile can be made. Our long-lasting relationships with local businesses ensure you will get personalized 1-to-1 attention to make the process as simple but as detail oriented as possible. Prior to you meeting with these local professionals, your salesperson will contact each salesperson at these contractors and give them your information, details about your project, project drawings, and other details about budget, and what you are needing to select. This will ensure your meeting goes smoothly so that no time is wasted with the sales person learning your project while you are standing in front of them. This process is repeated with the cabinet/counter company, the glass enclosure company, the shower/vanity fixture, faucet company, and any other professionals you need to meet. Obviously, all tile selections are made at Jack’s Tile and Carpet’s new showroom located in Newport News. We have three bathroom vignettes in our showroom which were recently completed in 2017. These show-up-to-date tile installation methods, tile sizes, colors, and designs. In addition to the vignettes, the Jack’s Tile and Carpet showroom features another 10 sections of tile installation on floors again showing several sizes, colors, and installation methods. We believe that seeing is understanding. Selections cannot simply be made from a board with a small color swatch. Large areas of tiles installed showing the overall color palette and design of the tile is the only way to be completely comfortable with your selection. At Jack’s Tile and Carpet, we believe that your comfort with us begins with the selection and our attention to detail but your comfort with our company will be completely confirmed when we begin the actual installation.
Prior to our installation team arriving at your home, you will have a detailed plan outlining our strategy to giving you the bathroom of your dreams. Once all selections are made and materials are verified in stock and in route to our showroom, we will determine a start date. We do not want to be in your home any longer than you want us in your home. It is our goal with every project that once we begin the process, there is work being done at your home every day. One way to ensure this is by knowing all materials are either in our warehouse or in route to our warehouse. The other way to ensure this is to have a detailed plan of action and a great relationship with our installation teams and outside contractors.
On the first day, we take careful attention to protect the areas of your home we are not remodeling. This will include covering all floors between your bathroom and applicable exits with a thick padding. Secondly, we will cover all furniture in adjoining rooms with plastic to protect from dust. Finally, we will cover the entrance to your bathroom with a dust barricade in a further attempt to keep all dust contained. Once these precautionary steps are taken, we are ready to begin. Our teams of demo crews, carpenters, tile installers, and all other necessary trades will work seamlessly to ensure your dream bathroom is completed in as little time as possible while still being completely focused on the details of the contract and your selections.
Our experience tells us that even with all the precautionary dust containment processes, dust will still penetrate into your home. Included in our cost to you, assuming you approve, will be a professional cleaning of your home once the project is complete. We include this cleaning not to give us un-written permission to be careless, but instead to give you an up-front expectation that your house will be a construction zone and we want to return it to your home as soon as the project is complete. As stated before, it is our goal at Jack’s Tile and Carpet to be detail oriented in our upfront discussions and in our contract with you. Once the details are set, our goal is to develop a plan of action to execute your complete project seamlessly beginning with the demolition and ending with the final touches such as paint, towel bars, and outlet covers.
